The shy guy needing a home

One look at his face on petfinder and my heart melted, and after reading about him (a shy guy looking for someone to help him come out of his shell) I knew I had to bring him home. He has turned out to be the sweetest, funniest fellow you'd ever know.

The Lovely Sabia

Sabia was found on the side of a road when she was about 3 weeks old. She had been mistreated and was in bad shape but in excellent spirits. Her joy and love for life saved her and has added immeasurabley to our lives.  She is now 10 years old and enjoys island life with another stray, Mambo and a bichon, Burton. People say Sabia is very lucky, but we know we are the lucky ones!

Frago's First Christmas

Merry Christmas, be safe, be happy. Frago wants everyone to know he wishes you a beautiful happy day. Frago is having a wonderful time on his new big fluffy bed next to the baseboard heater and chewing on his pigs ears. He just popped his head into the computer room, poking me with his wet, cold nose, letting me know he is looking for me. Santa gave Frago his new bed yesterday and is enjoying something he can call his own.

Frago went to visit my dad in north NJ, handling approx. three hours in the car without any problems. Frago was a huge hit at the center, everyone flocked to him, he enjoyed all of the hands petting and hugging him and wagged his tail wildly to show his apprecriation for the attention. Frago is enjoying his first Christmas in his new permanent home, a home full of love and laughter at the antics of all four of our furry family. Frago is very protective of his home and his pack mates.

When any one of them want to go out, Frago runs out first to scan the yard and watch over them. I wish we could save all of those wonderful animals over there, Frago is proof that they are so appreciative at their new lease on life giving us total unconditional love. You can see the love in his eyes, his mouth actually curls into a smile, and of course, his wildly wagging tail whenever any of us walk into the room. If he is left alone for a few moments, he feels he has to check to see where his family is. God, and Santa, brought us such a beautiful gift, a gift of love and companionship.

Hunter, my Thanksgiving dog

I adopted Hunter three years ago at the upper credit humane society. I first met Hunter when I was volunteering, there were three puppies. Freddy (aka Hunter), Gunner and Jasper. All male pointer lab mixes.

Of all the puppies, Freddy's antics stole my heart. Seemed he was always getting into trouble. All of the brothers had their own health problems. Hunter had bad teeth, Gunner had a sore under his eye, and Jasper had a bad leg.

The shelter's Troopers fund, helped Freddy get some teeth pulled. Shortly after the operation, he was adopted by a nice couple. Both of his brothers followed soon after. I was sad to see him go, I'd fallen in love with him.

A few months later I was walking down the shelter's hallway. I didn't know it at the time, but Freddy had been returned. As I reached the end of the hallway I could hear a familiar barking. When I opened the back door. Sure enough, there was Freddy.

Going crazy in his fenced in area. He saw me and lept onto the six foot fence and started climbing. I ran towards him, made it three steps before Freddy was over the top. Racing towards me. He lept and I caught him, we both fell to the ground. Me laughing, and he began yipping and licking my face excitedly. I looked into his lopsided face and knew he was the one for me.

The only problem was convincing my parents. That wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, and I brought Freddy home Nov, 21 2007. Took him to my cottage the next day, and discovered his passion. Running and Hunting. So I renamed him Hunter. After I adopted him he had many operations due to a birth defect.

He is truly a blessing.

She Just Wanted a Home

Sandy never took her eyes off us as we walked around the large holding area at the Dallas shelter. We checked out all the available dogs, but kept coming back to her. My husband said, "Let's take this one" and all our lives changed. She had already been to at least two shelters, but the only information they could give us was that she had recently been spayed and micro-chipped and they thought she was about two years old.

She was still swollen from nursing a litter of pups, but no one could tell us about their fate. When we got her home, she immediately bonded with our other dog and two cats. We have had several rescues, all wonderful dogs, but Sandy is the most loving, most devoted and just wants to please. We never have to look for her, she is always by our sides. She just wanted a forever home and now she has one and our lives are enriched because of her.
